Without Walls

Celebrating Black Liverpool Artists

In light of the recent call to action for Black lives, I've created a series of billboard style artwork pieces to be displayed on Blundell Lane, Liverpool. In collaboration with 5 Liverpool artists.

We have one of the oldest Black communities in the UK and a wealth of creative talent that often gets overlooked. Although Liverpool is known for being a city that celebrates culture as a Black woman I rarely see people who look like me being acknowledged and their work shared. This project will aim to work with a range of creatives from Liverpool who’d like to either convey a message or have an opportunity to showcase their work to the audience of the city. Each artist would be paid for their piece and the project, creation and installation of pieces documented so artists can then use this on their own platforms. Similar projects have taken place in London (molasses gallery) and Bristol (rising art agency) Actions need to happen and the arts organisations in Liverpool need to truly listen and embrace those on their dow step Artworks not adverts that shine a light on the talent in the city.

Pieces will be on display until 25th October

The project is funded by Arts Council England, Culture Liverpool and Liverpool City Council and hosted by Bluecoat.
